A little bit of exercise and activity in the morning can go a long way in improving motivation and energy in the body. It can pull you out of a sleepy and tired state of mind, empowering you to take on the day. We compiled a list of 6 activities one may perform to get going!
- Walking or Running: A quick morning walk or run, depending on your level of activity, can be a great start to the day. Cardio activities like these get your body moving, releasing serotonin in the brain. A simple walk outside can also help improve your body clock as being at home at the early hours of the day can make it hard for the body to register that its morning.
- Stretching: Spending 15-20 minutes stretching every morning can help relax the body after a good night’s rest. It helps reduce feelings of lethargy and tiredness.
- Meditation: Once you’re up, you may also want to consider spending 10-30 minutes in silent meditation. It helps to re-center the mind before one is ready to take on the day. Meditation gives better clarity on one’s goals and ambitions, allowing them to make the most of each day.
- Skipping/Jumping Jacks: This activity is also a great way to get the body moving. If one does not have access to the outdoors, one may practice skipping or jumping jacks. These activities help move the entire body, strengthening the core, legs, and arms.
- Push-Ups: Push-Ups are also a great way to get started with the day. A little bit of strength training right as you wake up can rapidly wake you up. Performing push-ups can be a daily goal and will only take 5-10 minutes. It’s an easy exercise which one can make more intense with time, but it’s also a great source of motivation and accomplishment.
- Squatting: Like how push-ups help train the upper body, squats are a great way to train the lower body. Practicing squats every day can help strengthen and tone your leg muscles, bringing more pep to your step!
